Many patients enjoy coming to the Advanced Vision Care Harley St clinic for their laser eye surgery and some even make a short-break of the occasion. However travelling back and forth to London if they live outside the capital, for several aftercare appointments is not always an attractive proposition, with both the time and cost factors being a real inconvenience for some patients.
This is where you as a highly qualified optometrist partners can come in, regardless of your location in the UK. Working with AVC you can perform pre laser eye surgery suitability consultations and then on patients you have referred to us ,future follow up aftercare appointments. You can stay in close contact with our clinical team at Harley Street to provide the best level of care to your patients. This is both reassuring and convenient for your patients who may be considering vision correction surgery, and also provides an opportunity for you as your local community optometrists to offer a specialist service to your patients.
AVC’s relationship with our optometrist partners is very important and we fully train each optometrist that carries out consultations and aftercare appointments for us, keeping in close contact with them to best manage the care of their patients.
We also provide regular educational seminars for our optometrist partners.
AVC is a registered provider of the new enhanced CET which commenced this year. By attending these optometrist seminars you can not only gain valuable CET points but at the same time keep abreast of the latest advances in refractive eye surgery.
On June 12th 2013 we delivered our first Optometrist seminar at our Harley Street clinic. AVC Founder and Medical Director Mr C.T Pillai and his experienced clinical team delivered highly informative lectures on subjects including the eye condition Keratoconus and the treatment of the same with Collagen Cross Linking.
On this occasion Presentations were also given by guest speakers from Technolas and AMO, and the optometrists attending had the opportunity to take part in a skills workshop, learning how to capture and interpret results from instruments such as the Oculus Pentacam.
With an impressive 6 CET points available (including those all-important interactive and peer review points) the seminar was over-subscribed and an overwhelming success.
AVC will be holding further CET seminars later this year and if you are interested in attending or becoming an optometrist partner and finding out more about the financial and educational rewards please call or email us for details.
We also hold regular “open evenings” in a relaxed environment at partner practices. These events are for anyone who is interested in refractive surgery to learn more about the procedure and what to expect and can help enhance the standing of your practice in the local community.
