Not Just Laser Eye Surgery

Due to the world renowned surgical expertise of Advanced Vision Care in Harley Street London, if a patient is found to be unsuitable for laser eye surgery we can still treat virtually any eye prescription that walks through their door. Two of the specialist treatments that we offer to patients who are out of range for conventional laser eye surgery are Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL) and Lens Replacement.

ICL involves implanting a small, flexible contact lens in front of the natural lens of the eye and behind the iris and is used to correct a wide range of visual errors. This implantable contact lens is made from a biocompatible material that will consequently not be rejected by the body and can be permanently left within the eye.
ICL implantable contact lenses have been FDA approved for several years and have since become a highly accurate and safe alternative to laser eye treatment. In the US, the military have embraced the procedure and recommend it to their new recruits who require vision correction surgery.

CLE is another eye treatment that can also cater for a wide prescription range and is very similar to a conventional cataract operation in terms of the procedure. The difference with CLE is that lenses that are implanted are bespoke, created to the patient’s exact prescription to give optimum individual visual results. For the vast majority of cases, these lenses incorporate a multifocal element, allowing the patients to read in good light without the need for glasses – a real attraction for many older presbyopic patients!

Advanced Vision Care eye surgeons are also experts in the latest treatment methods for keratoconus. We perform two main surgeries for patients with this eye condition; collagen corneal collagen cross-linking which strengthens the cornea to slow and potentially halt the progression of keratoconus and INTACS corneal implants which help reshape the cornea correcting keratoconus visual errors.
